For two and a half years, Michael set up a new service for young carers in Tower Hamlets. He originally approached the borough to create a film about young carers, as he felt that their profile needed to be raised. As he has worked successfully with the borough for many years, he was asked to carry out a gap analysis, and a review of what was available to young carers. This led to the setting up of a Young Carers multi-agency Steering Group, launching the Young Carers Strategy and the new service.

A quote from Michael's Manager at his 24 week review: "Michael has demonstrated exceptional ability to achieve targets and raise standards for young carers. He is highly motivated and has produced a considerable amount of work in his part-time hours."
