Our films and web pages are often created in tandem with schools and are the result of extensive workshops
which help to engage not only the pupils and teachers but the whole school, including parents and governors, in the project.

Planning for St Peter’s Induction Project

Week 1
9th November

  • Introduction to East End Talking website. (Need access to Interactive white board to demonstrate site and ICT suite, for children to look around site)
  • Drama session with all children involved in project to develop confidence and language. (Hall space needed this week only)
  • Intro to induction work

    • why do we need to create induction programme to share information about our school?
    • Who do we want to look at it?
    • What do we want it to say about our school community?
    • What is important for new members of our school community to know?

Week 2
16th November

  • Intro to digital video kit; taking photos, videoing.
  • Core group to capture areas of school, listed in their important things to have doc on class computer, using camera, camcorder and editing software.
  • Interview techniques, asking questions, who and what to ask.

Week 3
30th November

  • Drama warm up session with selected children involved this week to develop confidence and language needed.
  • Nursery and reception classrooms – starting point for the majority of our children.
    • Interviewing children about what they do in a typical day?
    • What’s their favourite thing about coming to school is?
    • (We need to capture the classroom environment in action and a quiet space to film the children talking.)
  • N. needs to prepare with us after school for her session next week.

Week 4
7th December

  • Family learning room – meeting N. (PSP) about what she does?
    • What our plans are for this room
    • how new families are supported/inducted when they enter the school at mid-points.
  • Learning Mentor needs to prepare with us after school for his session next week.

Week 5
4th January

  • Drama warm up session with children involved this week to develop confidence and language needed, reminder of games played.
  • Playgrounds
    • what do children remember about starting school?
    • Who helped them settle into St Peter’s and how.
    • Include brief interview with Learning Mentor about how he also helps children settle in.

Week 6
11th January

  • Drama warm up session with children involved this week to develop confidence and language needed.
  • Year 5 classroom
    • how our learning environments are set up to support children with their learning.
    • Interviewing children about our systems and procedures.
  • (We need to capture the classroom environment in action and a quiet space to film the children talking.)
  • Office staff need to prepare with us after school for his session next week.
  • How do we get images/video of breakfast/afterschool clubs.

Week 7
18th January

  • Office area – interviewing the office staff about breakfast and after-school clubs.
  • N. needs to prepare with us after school for her session next week.
  • How do we capture community cohesion/parental engagement images/video
  • Setting up Week 10 parents for interviewing – what will we ask etc

Week 8
25th January

  • Family learning roominterviewing N .(PSP) about what our parental engagement and community cohesion work
  • Meet with L. and possibly J. to talk about how we will film next week

Week 9
1st February

  • Headteacher’s office – interviewing the head (and possibly Chair of Governors) about:
    • how they are developing the school;
    • what it means to be part of a Church school;
    • what it is important for potentially new members of our school community to know?

Week 10
8th February

  • Family learning room – interviewing parents about:
      • what they think is good about St Peter’s school community;
      • what is in place to support families with settling into the school?
